ARTWORK

Glimpses of the past are stored within sublime and internal spaces. Behind closed eyes, we can conjure up infinite and undiscovered expanses that rival those found in the external world. Landscape is a timeless vehicle that allows me to explore the parallels between the vastness of internal and physical spaces. The enormity of nature often overwhelms human presence and this has become a recurring motif within my work. Figures fade in and fade out but will never disappear entirely and hold a mirror to the viewers past experiences and memories. Moments of contemplation, stillness and solitude can transport us from our daily lives towards an inner plain, a metaphysical landscape. The geographical locations that inspire these scenes are not important and the images I work from are starting points to environments that evoke a sense of memory and familiarity within the viewer.
